MLS 2022 Week 25 | MLS Betting Tips

Kris Brown – AKA MLS Card Guy – is our resident serious Major League Soccer expert.

Kris’s passion for the MLS really took off during the 2018 season in which he was a part of the team at DC United that opened Audi Field and welcomed Wayne Rooney to the MLS. He is now in his second season with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds of the USL. Kris likes to follow D.C United, Cincinnati, Seattle, and Atlanta.

His favorite player in the MLS is Luciano Acosta, but past favorites include Clint Dempsey and Kevin Paredes. The most iconic game he attended came at Audi field against Orlando in 2018, Wayne Rooney famously chased down an Orlando player who was racing towards an open DC goal, expertly tackled the ball away to save the draw, then unleashed a laser from midfield that Acosta headed in to complete the hat trick and seal the win.

We are in the home stretch now for the MLS and things are beginning to heat up. It’s very important to consider where teams are in the standings when evaluating these last few games. Teams who are completely out of it may begin to start playing youngsters and trying new things in preparation for next season. With that, let’s take a look at the juiciest fixtures for this weekend.

MLS Betting Tips – Week 25

MLS Betting – Game Week 25 Preview

New England vs DC United

It was working for us really well for a few weeks but fading DC has been unsuccessful the last few times out. Orlando had DC completely beat in the first half but squandered their chances and it came back to haunt them in the end. Then the Red Bulls played to a somewhat miraculous 0-0 draw this past weekend. So has DC turned the corner? I don’t think so. Remember they got smacked in the midweek against Charlotte between those two matches and besides the 2 late goals against Orlando that were a bit flukey they havent scored more than once in a game in the last 5 games (and 3 of those were shutouts) Now they go on the road to a team who hasn’t conceded in three matches. Probably pretty low scoring but I like a moment of magic from Gil and the home team to win.

Austin vs Sporting Kansas City

I don’t think this is as disrespectful as the lines to Austin have been this year. Sporting are getting better with some nice summer signings. That being said, this is still a game Austin should have. If they can’t get a result they may lose LAFC completely in the supporters shield race. I think both LAFC and Austin are able to get wins against overmatched opponents at home, but I like the number on this game much better than the LAFC game.

MLS Betting – Over 2.5 Goals Betting Odds

FC Dallas vs San Jose

This should be a wild game because something has got to give. Dallas hasn’t scored or conceded more than one goal in the last 6 games in fact it has finished 1-0 or 1-1 in each of their previous 6 games. Meanwhile San Jose has conceded more than 1 goal in 5 straight away matches and 15 of the last 17. It feels like Dallas still hasn’t got that talented front going yet, and while this may be the game to do it, it also feels like a trap game to me. San Jose are unbeaten in the last 9 against Dallas (most of those dallas will have been the favorite as well). I think the streak continues and San Jose can scrape a result off Dallas. Realistically they have to win this game to keep their very slim hopes of the playoffs alive so we may see them push at the end in a tie game. Dallas is 3rd right now but still only 4 points clear of Seattle in 8th. This is the type of game they need to win but youth can sometimes be fickle.

Seattle vs Real Salt Lake

MASSIVE game in the west. Seattle has never missed the playoffs before but a loss in this game will put them in a real pickle. They play two more massive games in the next two on the road at Galaxy and at Timbers. If they get 4 points from these 3 they will still have a chance but any less than that and things will start to look pretty dire in the emerald city. Seattle finishes with some friendlier games so they won’t be dead but this is where they need to start kicking on. Ruidiaz should be back to pack some punch up top and RSL is a pretty bad visitor. I think

Seattle takes all three points in this one. Side note, RSL will drop out of the playoffs with a loss and a result for Nashville and Portland, they are pretty desperate for points as well.
