Superliga Argentina: Week 13
This week we’ll guide you through the Marquee Matchups and analyse how the most important teams performed so far, which teams stood out in a surprising way and on the other hand which teams disappointed.
Patronato vs Gimnasia La Plata
Union de Santa Fe has so far been one of the revelation teams of the season, nobody expected them to have the level of performance they have this 2022, considering the low quality they showed last season. They have been the only team that has managed to outperform the almighty River Plate so far this season, and that is no easy feat. On the other side San Lorenzo, despite being recognised as one of the most important teams in the country, is in free fall, having won only one game all year and showing a horrible level, which has led to the dismissal of their coach this week. Without a doubt our clear favourite is Union.

Sarmiento vs River Plate
As always when we talk about River, there is not much to say about them, they are the best team in the country and will always be the favourites to win, no matter who they face.
In this case they face Sarmiento, a team with few resources that managed to surprise everyone with six wins in the twelve matches played so far, which puts them in a position to be hopeful of a victory and be able to move on to the next stage of the tournament. Unfortunately, they are up against a team with a very high level of talent and it will be very difficult for them to do so.

Velez Sarsfield vs Tigre
A match that in a normal situation would be hard fought, but not on this occasion. Our big favourite is Tigre, as Velez will be playing with an alternative team as they will be keeping most of their first team players for next week’s Copa Libertadores match.
Tigre is a better team than Velez, and they have shown it throughout the championship, finding themselves third in the standings and needing just one more win to qualify for the next stage.
Velez have had a very disappointing year, losing a large number of games in the local tournament, and failing to win so far in the Copa Libertadores, having so far suffered two defeats and a draw.
Boca Juniors vs Barracas Central
Boca is a very difficult team to predict, they are along with River the teams with the most economic power in the country, and therefore the ones with the best players, however Boca has not been able to reflect the quality of their squad on the pitch due to bad management of the technical directors, who have not found a tactic that suits the needs and virtues of the team for a long time.
They play against Barracas Central, a team that before the start of the championship we all speculated was going to be a disaster, since they have a team of players of advanced age and since they are a newly promoted club. They are the cheapest roster in the whole competition. However, they have managed to surprise everyone, winning five games out of twelve, which puts them in a position to have hope that if they can get a win against Boca, they still have a chance of qualifying for the next stage of the tournament.
Finally, our prediction is that Boca will take the win, as the difference between the teams is HUGE and we believe it will be reflected on the pitch. Besides, Boca play at home and if they win they will be already qualified to the next stage, so they will be looking for it no matter what it takes.
Platense vs Argentinos Juniors
Argentinos find themselves in the top positions of the tournament, and need to keep up the good results in order to advance, they have found a game style that satisfies their fans and their players, having won three of their last four games.
On the other hand Platense is in the bottom positions and has not been able to keep up this season, they have a lot to work on with their new coach Omar De Felipe, who has been in charge of the team for the last two weeks.
Without a doubt our clear favourite is Argentinos, mainly because Platense will not be motivated, even if they get a win they cannot qualify to the next phase, and obviously because they are a long way away from each other in terms of performances.
