The Argentine league is more exciting than ever, having already left behind the date of the classics that left us great surprises such as Boca beating River by 1-0 for the mistake of the defender of river Gonzales Pires, which gave a chance to Sebastian Villa who was able to take advantage of it,River River dominated most of the match, Tigre who never stop surprising us winning 4-0 against Platense or Racing who won the clasico against Independiente in an agonizing and electrifying way by 2-1, scoring the winning goal in the last minutes of the match.
Â
The first half of the league, divided into two groups, has already taken place, and when the second half is over, the top four teams in each zone will qualify to face each other in direct elimination matches starting from the quarter-finals. The teams are slowly getting on track and we can start to assume who they will be.
Â
Among these we have River and Defensa y Justicia, two teams that have a very similar strategy, they are very aggressive, they make their opponents adapt to their style of play and they tend to use a very high pressure. Not surprisingly, these are the two teams with the highest percentage of possession so far in the championship, and they are, along with Racing, the teams with the most goals scored in the season.
Â
Speaking about Racing, they are the team that has scored the most points and the only one that so far has not been defeated in any game. This took us all by surprise, as the team’s last season had not been very good, which led them to look for a new coach in Fernando Gago, with a very ambitious idea of play with a dynamic and possessive game, which at first was questioned by the fans and by the players themselves but to which they seem to have adapted in a great way, we will have to wait and see if this streak is not just a matter of luck and whether this level of Racing can be maintained over time.
Â
Other teams that are in a very good moment are Estudiantes and Tigre, who have so far shown that they have what it takes to fight for the trophy all the way to the end.

Â
Â
On the other hand we have the more disappointing teams, mainly Velez and Rosario Central who had been very impressive last season and have not been able to continue this so far in the 2022 season. Both have fired their technical directors after last weekend, hoping that the situation will be reversed soon, as they have very good players in their rosters and can surely recover the level they once had.
Â
Lanus and Talleres are two teams that were also expected to shine at the beginning of the season, and have started very weak, but the case of these is different, as both have new coaches who started this season and are getting to know their teams, and they have been very unlucky, with injuries to key players for the team, we hope that in the second half of the tournament they can reverse their bad moment.
Â
Looking at a more general aspect of the tournament we have two super important factors to take into account for the development of the league from now on. First, we are very close to the start of the Copa Libertadores, which will be played by River, Boca, Estudiantes, Colon, Talleres and Velez. This may result in these teams focusing on the international competition as they consider it more important, and therefore begin to overlook the local league, playing the league games with a majority of substitutes to give rest to the starters, as is often the case. The second thing to keep in mind is that from next week, Argentinean football will start to have VAR (Video Assistant Referee), which is important and could possibly benefit the teams that perform better.
Â
That’s all for now, we hope you found this information useful, see you in the next report!
