Superliga Argentina: Week 7
In this edition we’ll try to give you some detailed insight regarding some of the most interesting upcoming games, so you can be more informed to place your bets. Let us know how you like this format! As always, thanks for reading!
This is not an ordinary weekend for the Argentine Superliga, as the ” classics weekend” will take place. In which all teams are matched up against the rival with whom they have the most history in the league, or whose rivalry is the most important. No doubt it will be a very interesting and above all entertaining weekend.
River Plate vs Boca Juniors
The match that kicks off this gameweek of Argentine football, we find one of the weakest teams in the championship in Arsenal, having won just one game out of five in the competition so far and without ever having shown themselves to be superior to their opponents. Beyond that, it is a team that is difficult to play against, as they take a very defensive attitude throughout the game. On the other side we have Velez, one of the best teams of the previous season, and one of the most highly expected at the start of this one, but who are nevertheless leaving a lot to be desired. Having won the first game of the tournament against the weak Aldosivi, they have not managed to get a win since then, and despite having important players they cannot impose themselves as we all would expect, it will be a matter of time for the team to regain the level that took them to the top of the charts last season. Having said all this, it won’t be an easy game but our clear favourite is Velez.

Independiente vs Racing Club
The classic of avellaneda, a very attractive match that will undoubtedly be fought from start to finish.
Independiente have managed to win only one match out of the six they have played so far, the players don’t quite understand each other and know each other, which is reflected on the pitch. However, they are a team that will give a fight and have a solid defense.
Meanwhile Racing is on a run of great performances, is undefeated so far in the league and is coming from a 4-0 win over Atletico Tucuman. The team has finally been able to adapt to the ambitious approach of coach Fernando Gago, who has managed to get the team to understand each other in a masterful way and make it fun to watch.
But as we said at the start, it’s going to be a very tough game, and we see two outcomes as the most likely to happen, a draw or a narrow win for Racing.

Rosario Central vs Newell’s Old Boys
The Clasico de Rosario, is famous for being the most aggressive of all, from the fans to the players, it is safe to bet that by the end of the match there will be some injuries and a few red cards.
The home side Rosario are in a bad way, losing three of their last four games, the last being a 1-3 defeat to a very weak Barracas Central team, which cost them a storm of insults from their fans, who were shouting for coach Cristian Gonzalez to resign. The team has a good understanding from midfield forward, with great players like Vecchio and Ruben, but in defense they are pathetic. If Rosario doesn’t win this game, the coach will probably be fired from his position.
Newell’s, on the other hand, is coming along a little better, though not great, winning three out of six games so far. The team is full of young players, who are inconsistent but when they turn on they show an astonishing level. Their star player is Francisco Gonzales, who has three assists and two goals so far this season.
Estimating a result is very difficult, on the one hand Newell’s comes better, but on the other hand Rosario bets everything on this match, probably we will see a draw or a 1-0 victory that can be of any of the two. What is for sure, is that it will be a spectacle
Gimnasia La Plata vs Estudiantes
“El clásico Platense” is one of the oldest and crazier rivalries in the country. The bad news for gimnasia is that their rival is going through a much better phase than they are. We expect Estudiantes to be the favorite but anything could happen.
There are two important factors to take into account that are very important and can affect the result of this match, on the one hand Estudiantes comes from playing for the qualification to the Copa Libertadores on 16/3, which they managed to get by beating Everton, so their players will have less rest for the clasico.
The other factor to take into account is that Gimnasia has not been able to win the clasico since 2010, so it is something that also has weight in the players’ heads. Maybe this will be the time that the streak ends and they can get the win, but they will face one of the best teams in the country at the moment, so it won’t be easy for them.
